Time Axis
A Time Axis is drawn across an entire row.
Add a new Time Axis Menu: Add | Time axis Shortcut: Alt+T This will create a new row, showing a time axis, with the row's name to its left (if "Show name" is checked). The row can then be moved up and down, edited, duplicated, copied to the clipboard and deleted (see row operations). Row name options: - Select to show or hide the row's name with "Show name". - A set of row name options include a choice of font, font color, font background color, and text alignment (horizontal and vertical) relative to the waveform region in that row. The initial values of this set come from the Waveform options dialog (Diagram | Waveform options). If you want this set's values to ALWAYS match those in Waveform options dialog, select "Use default options". Otherwise, uncheck the box to individually customize each of these options. Time axis options: - Define major and minor tick marks. - Define auto-generated count labels: Values (Decimal integer or fixed-point), looks and position. Count labels are associated with major ticks, and drawn relative to a tick's upper-right corner. Auto count labels: Use the character @ as a stand-in for the numeric value. If you want the count label to include the @ character, you'll need to escape it with the \ character: \@. And, the @ character can be surrounded by other text, and all text can be used with postscript and subscript notation. For example: Count text, @ns, that starts at 100 and increases by 50, will create auto count labels: 100ns, 150ns, 200ns, ... Count text, \@@ns, with the same settings, will create auto count labels: @100ns, @150ns, @200ns, ... |
Superscript/Subscript
Row name and count labels can include superscript and subscript portions, e.g.: a""n"" t..RC.. Superscript text is surrounded by a pair of quotation marks, and subscript text is surrounded by a pair of dots. Alternative use cases to a Time Axis:
- If the diagram contains gaps, they will show up in the Time Axis too. Alas, the auto-generated count labels might not be suitable anymore. Therefore, hide the count labels, and draw individual labels yourself. - Draw a series of auto-generated labels, without any time axis markings (horizontal line or tick marks). |
